Engine
What is a Fuel System?
Stores, filters and delivers fuel to the engine.
Simplified animation — not to scale.
In plain English
The full chain from tank to injectors: fuel tank, fuel pump, fuel filter, fuel lines and injectors all working together.
A simple analogy
"It is the engine's plumbing — pipes, a pump and a strainer carrying the fuel from the storage tank to the burners."
How it works
The pump pushes fuel from the tank through the filter, along the lines and into the injectors, which spray a fine mist into the cylinders at exactly the right moment.
Signs of trouble
- ⚠Engine cranks but won't start
- ⚠Cutting out under load or up hills
- ⚠Strong smell of petrol or diesel
