Lane Departure Warning / LDWS

You’re drifting out of your lane without indicating — the system is warning you.

What it means

An amber icon of a car between two lane markings, sometimes with vibration or an audible alert. The forward-facing camera has detected the car crossing a white line without the indicator being on. It’s a driver-assistance feature, not a fault — but it can be startling if you don’t know what it is.

What to do

  1. 1If you meant to change lanes: use your indicator next time and the system won’t beep.
  2. 2If you didn’t mean to drift: take a break — you may be tired.
  3. 3If the light stays on constantly: the camera may be dirty, misted or faulty. Clean the windscreen in front of the rear-view mirror area.
  4. 4You can usually disable LDWS via a dashboard button or menu if it’s too sensitive.

Likely causes

  • Car crossing lane markings without indicating
  • Dirty or obscured windscreen camera
  • Faded or unclear road markings
  • Faulty camera or control module
